Artist Bio:
Strokes in Blue is a surrealist enquiring her elusive psyche with unexpected metaphors. With her emerging art practice, she explores a world with heightened sensations, a world experienced as if she has metamorphosed into another form. She rejects the limitations of her physical body, and the lack of belonging she feels because of it in foreign and familiar faces and places. As a migrant who lived her childhood in Mumbai and her adulthood in Melbourne, she observes the world collecting, rejecting, curating prompts that dissuade her from becoming a rebranded white-label product. Strokes in Blue is the pseudonym of Prachi Lai, 1990. Her emerging practice touches on themes of freedom, belonging, capitalism and our relationship to our environments. As a multidisciplinary artist, she expresses herself in oil paintings, animations and sculptures. She also makes furniture and speculates with wood and metal.
